Wendy’s story is about a stop sign…
***
Hello,
I would need your advice, I had ticket of 100$ by a security agent at the Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau airport yesterday at 1:30 am. He told me I did not do my stop, but I am convinced I did. Here are the circumstances;
I got to the airport around 1:10 am, I drove pass the hall once to let my sister get off. There are three stops in front of the entrée, I stopped in front of the 3rd stop in front of the agent. I then drove to the parking lot, but my sister called me to say that they were ready to go. I did the first stop because I let 3 pedestrians pass (2 women going to the airport, a man walking toward the parking). Just after this stop, I was following a car that had just made a change of lane at less than 5 km/h. It did its stop, and then drove off. I undoubtedly made my stop since thereafter I engaged a change of lane by putting my flicker. If I had not made my stop as the agent affirms, I will not have had a sufficient distance between the two vehicles to carry out my lane change. I went back to the center lane. I did not accelerate to pass the vehicle nor did I cut anybody. If that had been the case, he would have blown his horn at me.
Moreover, when the agent walked towards me, he never asked my documents nor to pull over. He immediately spoke to me sarcastically, without ever listening to my arguments. That lasted from 5 to 10 min. There was a maintenance vehicle directly on my left, then others on the verge behind me. I then took the initiative to move my vehicle on the verge just right after the 3rd stop (10 meters) to not obstruct the way. This operation obviously embarrased the agent, because he immediately started to yell. At this moment, he decided to give me the ticket.
I have 4 witnesses, my parents and my sister who were just after the 3rd stop as well as a peace officer which was at the same distance. I asked her to confirm what his colleague affirmed, but she could not. It will be able to confirm that I did not yell at her or anyone nor be impolite. My parents and my sister, confirm that I did the stop.
I had my driver’s license at 16, I am now 25. I never had a ticket for a stop, passing on a red light nor for excess speed, I still have all my demerit points. Why would I have omitted to stop at a stop sign I did 10 min before, is anyway there was a car in front of me and I was not in a hurry?
Do you believe that I am likely to win my cause?
Please accept my best greetings
Wendy
